The Head Coach is the lead point of responsibility for the daily success and operations of Greensboro Crew at Lake Brandt in North Carolina.
Greensboro Crew, a division of HPG Rowing, is the rowing program based at Lake Brandt for youth and Masters. (The other base is at Oak Hollow Lake in High Point, NC) With a safety first and foremost approach, the mission of Greensboro Crew is to provide a high quality recreational rowing program for its participants where each rower is provided the opportunity to reach their potential in competition.
The selected candidate will have demonstrated a proven track record of trust and superior performance in the sport of rowing. Such a record of performance would include winning crews at USRowing youth and or masters nationals.
Reporting to the Executive Director of HPG Rowing, the Head Coach of Greensboro Crew will be responsible for day to day operations of the Youth & Masters programs. Expectations are that the Head Coach will turn Greensboro Crew into a powerhouse program on the national stage of youth and masters rowing, with boys and girls youth crews prepared to represent the club at USRowing Youth Nationals and England’s Henley Royal Regatta in 2019.
The Head Coach will be supported off the water by the Executive Director, who would handle general logistics such as uniform orders, team travel, and the collection of membership fees. This will allow the Head Coach to focus more on coaching and recruiting.
From time to time the Head Coach would also be involved in outreach programs such as running the PE program with ergs in local high schools for talent identification and to create more interest in the sport locally. Other activities could involve occasional meetings with city officials on issues relating to the club, and civic and family foundations to enlist philanthropic support.
While not all inclusive list, the head coach will be responsible for:
- Individual and team safety at all times both at Lake Brandt and during team travel
- Building a successful rowing program where each athlete can meet their potential
- Supervision of assistant coaches at Lake Brandt
- Passing a criminal background check
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Possessing a clean and valid drivers license at all times while employed by the club
- Becoming CPR certified within 60 days of starting this position
The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience up to $50,000.00 with limited fringe benefits.
